Next Friday seems so soon!

Our time is quickly approaching for our departure to Morogoro! We are excited, and some are nervous. I tend to have a "vivid" imagination, which should explain the nervousness. I think this may be common in women, as other women who are traveling with us are also nervous. I believe that Satan is trying to use the nervousness to inhibit the work of God. Satan knows that the Lord has the ability to do amazing things during our trip to Tanzania; so he is trying even harder to stop us from spreading the Truth. Please pray that our hearts will be strengthened through the Lord as we prepare for our departure. As each day passes, more members of our group are being afflicted with illness, nerves and concern. Only the Holy Spirit can ease these fears.

Today, we received word from the baptist preacher in Morogoro. He explained to us how God is at work in the schools. Two weeks ago, he baptized twelve people, ten in which were from Islamic strong holds. Many believers are coming from a past of being forgotten, raped, rejected, and never feeling loved. But now they have been welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord and they understand true love for the first time in their lives! Praise God!

During our two week stay in Tanzania, we will be working in construction and teaching. There are two schools that we will be teaching at, one for younger children and the other is teenagers. There will definitely be a language barrier in communicating to the children. We hope that we can somehow translate "sin", "Christ", "persecution", and "salvation". I'm pretty sure only the Holy Spirit will be able to do that!

We will keep you updated over the next eleven days! Until then, keep us all in your prayers!

"Fun" Raiser!

We had a HUGE garage sale on Saturday! We raised an amazing $1600! This is our second garage sale for Tanzania. Total, we have raised over $3000 in garage sales! Thank you for everyone who contributed their "junk". This goes to show that one man's trash is truly another man's treasure.

As we are getting closer and closer to our departure to Tanzania, Satan is trying to move closer into our lives. Please pray this week that we will not give in to the doubts and fears that Satan uses to penetrate our thoughts. We are all worried about money, safety, planning, and leaving our families. But we KNOW that we have each been called to be a servent for Christ in Tanzania. Pray that we will remember that in the days to come!

One month to go!

I figured that a blog is the easiest way to keep everyone up to date on our trip plans. Although I won't be able to update it while we are in Africa, I might convince my mom to!

Mike and I received a HUGE blessing this past week. Mike is very involved in a football forum for Aggies (texags.com). On the forum, there is a religion section. A few weeks ago, Mike decided to post our mission trip on the forum and see if we could get a few Aggies to support up. Immediately, we received a response. Over the weeks, more and more Aggies have reached out to us and offered their support. On Monday, a gentleman in Houston emailed Mike for more information about the trip. When Mike responded, he informed him that we had an additional $1500 to raise, but more than anything we need prayer. The man from Houston (a complete stranger) then responded that him and his wife are very passionate about missions and would like to donate $1500 to our mission fund, plus an additional $500 for any further expenses! What a blessing! We don't know how to ever repay this gentleman and his wife, but I know the Lord has a dump truck full of blessings to pour out!

In addition to this kind gentleman, several other Aggies, friends and loved ones have contributed to our trip. I know that the Lord will bless each and every one of them. We are so thankful to have people in our life that encourage our daily walk with the Lord. With all of the funding we have received, our trip is completely paid for! Plus, we will be able to help any additional people on our trip. The extra money that we have remaining will be used to purchase supplies and other items needed by the people of Morogoro. I can't wait to see the blessings that are to come!

With our trip paid and our vaccinations done, Mike and I can not wait until we step foot in Africa! We will continue to keep you posted on our status during the days to come. In the mean time, please pray for our families. It is never easy on your family when you are traveling across the world (literally) for a few weeks. There are ten people traveling with us to Tanzania. Please pray for their families as well. Also, pray for their jobs. We also ask that you pray for our hearts, that the Lord is preparing them for the people of Morogoro. And most importantly, please pray for the people of Morogoro. Ask that they will receive us and will be open to the Lord's blessings!

Thank you for all of your support!
